How to deal with this girl? Please help me!?

I have been seeing a girl from my past (went out a few times when we were 16 and 18, now we're 20 and 22), and I think she is developing feelings for me. I would like to have a little chat with her concerning us. She knows I have feelings for her, but I want to know how she feels about me. I don't want to put her on the spot or corner her. She did kiss me the second time we saw each other (I initiated the first kiss), but when I saw her yesterday(3rd real date), we were only able to get together for an hour and a half. I suggested we go out for coffee, so we did. We were pretty talkative, and I dropped her off at her dorm so she could go to her meeting. I kissed her and she told me to text her later. I was visiting my buddy at the same school, so I texted her that if she wanted to take a walk after she got out of her meeting, I would be around for a few hours. She replied with: "mmk" and that was it. I didn't hear from her the rest of the night. She texted me the next morning, saying "sorry she didnt reply, she didnt have her phone on her, and that it was nice seeing me." My friend's b-day is in a week and a half, and I want to invite her to go with me. I just want to see exactly where we stand. How do I go about asking this or bringing it up without making her nervous or feel awkward? Should I even say anything?? What should I say?--How should I say it? Does she even like me?????? Please help me!
